Ever since the premiere of the fourth campaign, recently appointed game master Brennan Mulligan has kept fans guessing with rich lore, a wide array of heroes, and a thrilling plot showcasing angels, fiends, and dark forces increasing in influence within Dol-Makjar.
Note: Spoilers for Episode 3 of this adventure lie ahead.
The Soldiers Table Unveiled
The third episode finished on a huge suspense moment and presented the first table of adventurers who will branch out from the central cast to undertake their separate journey, apart from the additional parties.
The combat-focused team includes Teor (brought to life by Travis Willingham), the agile character (Laura), Tyranny (Whitney Moore), Wicander (Sam Riegel), and the mysterious adventurer (the actor).
The Reason for Division
With a large ensemble, it was obvious from the start that having everyone at the same party would be unfeasible.
That’s why, the initial installments of the new season serve as an Overture, weaving together the personal journeys before splitting into three separate parties: Fighters, Planners, and Seekers.
The Nature of the Warrior Group
As described by the DM, the warrior group is for participants who enjoy a typically action-packed battle-oriented gameplay experience where non-violent answers are scarce.
At first glance, figures such as the reluctant priest Wicander might appear unsuited, but the developments of the latest installment demonstrate why these five characters are best suited for the combat party.
Reasons to Leave
For one thing, the team has a clear idea where to head next after a intense first encounter with the antagonists.
A former ally of Thjazi—whose death started the campaign’s events—manipulated the enemy for his selfish purposes, invading the secret base, assaulting Thimble, and stealing all the enchanted items to sell off.
The traitor then cleared his liabilities and ran away to a secure base in the northern region, north of the urban center, with Cyd close behind.
Character Drivers
Secondly, each character has a personal reason to exit Dol-Makjar:
- Thimble, as the companion and closest confidant, wants vengeance.
- The adventurer has experience in the region and warns that it is a nasty location.
- The strong character and Wicander, having resisted his house’s orders to execute the target and instead freed him, have nowhere else to go.
- Yet, their position as important members in House Halovar could assist the team reach areas they usually can’t.
- Additionally, The fighter pledged a eternal obligation to The savior for his salvation and will now go with him wherever.
Fugitives
Lastly, all of them are hunted by the authorities that rule Dol-Makjar for a multiple motives, making lingering locally dangerous:
- The agile adventurer and The character are recognized lawbreakers.
- The strong figure and The healer betrayed House Halovar and the horde of evil beings they are partnered with.
- The fighter is wanted dead by the clan.
This means them little choice but to travel to the remote area in search of the traitor.
Upcoming Developments
According to episode three’s post-show segment, we discover that the warrior group will not appear the following episode, leaving the remaining eight players to assemble the Questers and Planners groups.
