Area Law Enforcement
Roughly fifty cars have been smeared with what seems to be human bodily fluid in the German city of Hanau close to Frankfurt, police confirm law enforcement.
Cars, building surfaces and postboxes were defaced, occasionally with swastikas, they announced in a official communication.
Police report they were notified in the late hours on Wednesday, when a individual observed that a vehicle in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been covered with a reddish-hued liquid.
The liquid had been placed in the form of a Nazi symbol, they reported.
Police then discovered multiple other smeared automobiles and house walls in the surrounding area.
Swastikas are banned in Germany under laws outlawing the visible presentation of Nazi symbols.
Officials report early analysis suggest the liquid was likely human bodily fluid.
"There is still no clue as to its source; authorities are currently not aware of any harm in association with the event," they added.
City officials announced they were working "to unravel the incident" and have requested to the community for information.
A senior political figure said the vandalism left him speechless and required to be addressed quickly.
"This event hits the core of Hanau and reawakens the pain of the right-wing terrorist attack five years ago," he posted on social media, referring to the killing of nine people by a shooter focusing on individuals of immigrant origin in 2020.
